What is Sports Massage?
The goal of Sports Massage is to help you be at your best before, during, and after competition or athletic activity.
How does it work?
Focusing on major muscle groups involved in your sport or event, techniques are used during a Sports Massage to increase blood flow and energize your body.
Pre-event Sports Massage prevents injury by preparing your muscles, tendons and ligaments to be at their best. When these tissues are warm and supple, joints move with fewer restrictions and your hard working muscle cells are supplied with all the blood and nutrients they need to compete. Certain Deep Tissue Massage techniques are avoided that might cause soreness or temporarily impair normal muscle functioning. If you are planning to compete or exert yourself after a massage, be sure to let your massage therapist know.
After an event or strenuous activity, Sports Massage can assist with faster injury recovery and reduce any swelling, cramping, or soreness you may be experiencing. There is nothing better after a period of exertion than a relaxing massage!
